Rahu Shanti Puja is a sacred Vedic ritual performed to appease Rahu, the north node of the Moon. In Vedic astrology, Rahu is a powerful shadow planet (Chhaya Graha) known for bringing sudden shifts, illusions, and chaotic challenges. This puja is specifically conducted to neutralize the malefic effects of Rahu, eliminate sudden obstacles, and transform chaotic energies into opportunities for profound material and spiritual growth.
In Hindu cosmic lore, Rahu is depicted as the immortal severed head of an asura (demon) that periodically swallows the Sun or Moon, causing eclipses (visualized in the image holding a glowing celestial orb). He represents worldly desires, ambition, innovation, and illusion.
When Rahu is poorly placed, weak, or afflicted in an individual's birth chart—or during a stressful Rahu Mahadasha or Antardasha—it can trigger sudden losses, confusion, psychological distress, relationship strain, and chronic health issues that baffle medical science. 1. Sankalpa (Sacred Intent)

Lord Ganesha Puja: Conducted first to remove any obstacles to the ritual itself.
Navagraha Invocations: Worship of all nine celestial bodies, with special emphasis on Rahu's ruling deities (Goddess Durga or Lord Shiva).
3. Kalash Sthapana & Abhishek
A copper or brass Kalash (sacred pot) is established representing the cosmic energies.
An idol or a specialized Rahu Yantra is bathed with sacred liquids (milk, honey, water) during the chanting of purification verses.

5. Havan (Sacred Fire Ritual) & Offerings
A holy fire is lit, and special ingredients associated with Rahu—such as black sesame seeds, mustard seeds, Durva grass, and pure cow's ghee—are offered into the flames.
Specific Donations (Daana): Items like dark blankets, black sesame seeds, or lead objects are often set aside to be donated to the needy after the puja to balance karmic debts.
6. Aarti & Prasad Distribution
The puja concludes with a traditional aarti. Blessed food and protective items (like energized black threads or yantras) are given to the devotee to wear or place in their home.
