Matangi Puja & Mantra Japa is a sacred ritual dedicated to Goddess Matangi, the ninth of the ten Mahavidyas (wisdom goddesses) in Hinduism. Representing the tantric form of Goddess Saraswati, she is revered as the Goddess of Speech, Knowledge, Music, Art, and Creative Excellence. . Preparation & Sankalpa
The devotee or appointed priest cleanses the space and wears clean, preferably green or light-colored attire (as green is the sacred color of the Goddess).
A Sankalpa (sacred intention) is made, stating the devotee's name, birth details, and specific goals for the ritual.
2. Altar Setup & Invocations
An image or a consecrated Matangi Yantra is placed on a fresh altar cloth.
The ritual begins by invoking Lord Ganesha to ensure an obstacle-free ceremony.
Kalash Sthapana (installing the sacred water pot) is conducted to ground the divine energies.
3. Ritual Offerings (Shodashopachara)
The deity is offered fresh flowers (especially red, yellow, or green), vermilion (kumkum), turmeric, and sandalwood paste.
A pure Ghee lamp (diya) and incense sticks are lit.
Special Naivedya: Offerings of honey, sweets, fruits, and coconut are made. Traditionally, betel leaves and cooked rice are highly favored by Goddess Matangi.
4. Mantra Japa (Chanting)
The core of the ritual involves chanting her powerful seed mantras using a special rosary (like a Hakik or Rudraksha mala) for a specific count (typically 1,008 or more repetitions) with unwavering focus:

5. Homa (Fire Ritual) & Aarti
An optional sacred fire ritual (Homa) is conducted where offerings of ghee and herbs are made into the fire to amplify the mantra's vibrations.
The puja concludes with a devotional Aarti and the distribution of Prasad (blessed food).
