Dhanvantari Homam
Dhanvantari Homam is a sacred Vedic fire ritual dedicated to Lord Dhanvantari, the divine physician and the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This auspicious Homam is performed to seek blessings for good health, longevity, protection from diseases, speedy recovery, mental well-being, and overall physical and spiritual wellness.
Lord Dhanvantari is revered as the God of Ayurveda and the celestial physician who emerged during the Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Ocean) carrying the pot of Amrit (nectar of immortality). Worshipping Lord Dhanvantari through Homam is believed to remove health-related obstacles, promote healing, strengthen immunity, and bless devotees with a long, healthy, and prosperous life.
During the Dhanvantari Homam, experienced Vedic priests perform Ganesh Puja, Sankalp, Kalash Sthapana, and invoke Lord Dhanvantari with Vedic mantras. The ritual includes the chanting of Dhanvantari Mantras, Ayushya Suktam, and other healing hymns, followed by a sacred Havan (Homam) in which medicinal herbs, ghee, grains, and other sacred offerings are offered into the holy fire. The ceremony concludes with Purnahuti, Dhanvantari Aarti, Shanti Path, and Prasad distribution.
