Akal Mrityu Aatma Shanti Puja
Akal Mrityu Aatma Shanti Puja & Yagna is a sacred Vedic ritual performed for the peace and liberation of the soul of a person who has passed away due to an untimely (Akal Mrityu) or unnatural death. This powerful ceremony is conducted to pray for the departed soul's spiritual peace, removal of karmic obstacles, and attainment of a higher spiritual realm, while also bringing peace, protection, and harmony to the surviving family members.
According to Vedic traditions, an untimely or accidental death may leave unresolved karmic impressions. Akal Mrityu Aatma Shanti Puja & Yagna is performed to offer prayers for the departed soul's peace, spiritual upliftment, and onward journey. The ritual seeks the blessings of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, Lord Yama, and the divine ancestors (Pitru Devatas) for the liberation and eternal peace of the departed.
The ceremony begins with Ganesh Puja, Sankalp, Kalash Sthapana, and the invocation of the deities. Sacred Vedic mantras are chanted, followed by Tarpan, Pind Daan (where applicable and according to family tradition), Aatma Shanti prayers, and a sacred Havan (Yagna). The ritual concludes with Purnahuti, Shanti Path, and prayers for the well-being, protection, and peace of the family.
This puja is often performed after accidental death, sudden illness, natural disasters, or other untimely circumstances, as well as on the death anniversary (Tithi) of the departed, according to family customs and guidance from knowledgeable priests.
