Mool Nakshatra Puja
The Mool Nakshatra Puja (also known as Gand Mool Nakshatra Shanti Puja) is a sacred Vedic ritual performed to neutralize the malefic cosmic influences and doshas associated with being born under one of the six structurally sensitive "Gand Mool" asterisms (Ashwini, Magha, Moola, Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, or Revati). It aims to align the individual's life with cosmic harmony, safeguarding health, family, and overall prosperity.
In Vedic astrology, the sky is partitioned into 27 Nakshatras (lunar mansions). Six of these reside at critical transitional junctions—the "knots" or Gandant points between water and fire zodiac signs. Mool Nakshatra (the 19th mansion, ruled by Ketu and located in Sagittarius) is particularly potent.
When a child is born under these specific cosmic conditions, it creates a Mool Nakshatra Dosha. Left un-remedied, this dosha is believed to negatively influence the early childhood circumstances of the individual, introduce heavy karmic baggage, and create disruptions or health complications for the parents, siblings, or maternal family members depending on the specific birth time (pada). The Mool Nakshatra Puja is ideally performed on the 27th day after birth (when the Moon cycles back to the birth nakshatra), but it can also be safely performed later in adulthood to remove deeply ingrained life blocks.

Navagraha and Nakshatra Puja: Invoking and offering prayers to the nine ruling planets and all 27 nakshatras, with special pacifying rituals directed toward the birth deity (e.g., Goddess Nirriti for Moola) and the ruling planet (Ketu or Mercury).
Mantra Chanting (Japam): Intense, continuous recitation of the specific Mool Nakshatra peace mantras (ranging from thousands of repetitions) to clear karmic blocks.
Havan (Sacred Fire Ritual): Offering herbs, ghee, and grains into the consecrated fire to seal the prayers and purify the environment.
Abhishek / Mool Snan: The individual (and parents, in case of a newborn) are purified with the energized water from the Kalash, often sprinkled gently through a sieve containing 27 holes.
Aarti & Dana (Charity): Concluding with aarti and distributing Prasad. Performing charitable acts, such as feeding Brahmins and donating clothes or grains, is essential to complete the remediation.
