Dosh Shanti Puja
The Kaal Sarp Dosh Shanti Puja is a specialized Vedic ritual performed to alleviate the negative astrological influences of the Kaal Sarp Dosh. This condition occurs in a birth chart when all seven primary planets are hemmed between the shadow planets Rahu (the head of the serpent) and Ketu (the tail). The puja aims to appease these energies and restore balance, peace, and progress to an individual's life.
In Vedic astrology, Kaal means time or death, and Sarp means serpent. A birth chart is said to have Kaal Sarp Dosh when planets like the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn sit entirely within one half of the zodiac wheel bordered by Rahu and Ketu.
Depending on the specific placement of Rahu and Ketu across the 12 houses of the horoscope, there are 12 distinct types of this dosh (such as Anant, Kulik, Vasuki, Shankhpal, etc.). It is often believed to bring unexpected hurdles, delays in career or marriage, financial instability, and mental stress. The Shanti Puja serves as a spiritual remedy, using specific mantras, prayers to Lord Shiva (who controls the serpent energies), and offerings to neutralize these planetary afflictions.
