1. Preparation & Altar Setup (Shuddhi)
Auspicious Days: While it can be done daily during difficult phases, starting or performing this puja on a Tuesday or Saturday is considered highly effective.
Cleaning: Clean the puja room or designated corner thoroughly. Take a bath and put on fresh red or saffron-colored clothes (the colors preferred by Lord Hanuman).
Altar Arrangement: Place a wooden platform (Chowki) and drape it with a clean red cloth.
Idol Installation: Place an image or idol of Lord Hanuman on the platform. It is highly recommended to also place an image of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita next to him, as Lord Hanuman never accepts prayers without his master being honored first.
2. Initial Invocations & Sankalp
Lighting the Lamp: Light a deepam using pure cow ghee or sesame oil (Til ka tel). Light a few incense sticks to purify the atmosphere.
Sankalp (The Vow): Hold a little water, a few fresh flowers, and some raw rice grains in your right hand. Close your eyes and mentally state your full name, lineage (Gotra), and your specific intention. Clearly mention the issue you want resolved (e.g., overcoming a major fear, protection from toxic energies, or removing a stubborn life obstacle) and pledge to complete the paths with sincerity. Let the water drop to the floor to seal your vow.
3. Primary Worship (Shodashopachara)
Offerings: Offer red flowers (especially hibiscus or roses) and apply vermilion (Sindoor) mixed with jasmine oil (Chameli ka tel) to the idol or image of Hanuman ji.
Naivedya (Bhog): Offer sweets made of jaggery and roasted chickpeas (Gur-Chana), Boondi Laddus, or seasonal fruits as a sacred food offering.
4. Core Recitation (The Path)
Before reading the Bajrang Baan itself, it is mandatory to clear your state of mind by honoring his lineage:
Lord Rama Invocation: Chant "Om Sri Ram Jaya Ram Jaya Jaya Ram" at least 11 times. Lord Hanumanβs energy awakens immediately upon hearing the name of Rama.
The Recitation: Sit straight, hold the text of the Bajrang Baan, and recite it with deep focus, clear pronunciation, and unwavering devotion. Depending on your Sankalp, people traditionally repeat the path 1, 3, 7, or 11 times in a single sitting.
The Oath Rule: Keep in mind that the verses of the Bajrang Baan contain a literal oath (Saugandh) given to Lord Hanuman in the name of Lord Rama to act quickly. Therefore, it must be read with absolute respect, humility, and completely pure intentions.
5. Conclusion & Aarti
Hanuman Aarti: Stand up and gently wave the ghee or camphor lamp while singing the Hanuman Ji Ki Aarti.
Kshama Prarthana (Forgiveness Prayer): Fold your hands and ask for forgiveness for any unintentional mistakes made in pronunciation or ritual steps during the path.
Prasad Distribution: Consume a portion of the offered Gur-Chana or laddus as Prasad and distribute it among your family members.
