Ayush Homam and Yajna is one of the most auspicious Vedic rituals performed for longevity, health, vitality, and protection from illnesses. This sacred ceremony is dedicated to Lord Dhanvantari, the divine physician, along with Lord Vishnu and the Ayush Devatas, who bless devotees with a healthy, prosperous, and peaceful life.
The ritual begins with Ganesh Puja, Kalash Sthapana, and Sankalp in the devotee's name and gotra. Experienced Vedic Pandits then perform the chanting of sacred Ayush Mantras, followed by a powerful Havan (Yajna) using authentic Vedic procedures and premium puja samagri.
Ayush Homam is especially beneficial for newborn babies, children, individuals recovering from illness, senior citizens, and anyone seeking long life, immunity, and protection from health challenges. It is also performed on birthdays (Ayushya Homam), anniversaries, and other important life milestones to seek divine blessings for continued health and success.
The puja can be performed at home, in a temple, or through online live participation, allowing devotees worldwide to receive divine blessings with complete faith and convenience.

1. Pre-Ritual Purifications (Shuddhi)
Vastu Shuddhi: The designated puja area is thoroughly cleaned and purified with holy water (Ganga jal) to eliminate stagnant energies.
Self-Purification: The hosts take a physical bath and dress in clean, traditional attire. The priest administers Achaman (symbolic sipping of sanctified water) to purify the host's body and speech.
2. Altar Setup & Invocations (Sthapana)
Ganpati Puja: Any Vedic ritual must begin by invoking Lord Ganesha. A small idol or a symbolic betel nut representation of Ganesha is worshipped with flowers, vermilion, and duba grass to ensure the smooth execution of the ceremony.
Sankalp (The Core Intention): The host holds water, flowers, and raw rice grains in their right hand. The priest recites the specific year, date, astrological star (Nakshatra), and the family’s Gotra. The host then explicitly states their wish: praying for the long life, sound health, and overall success of the individual for whom the homam is being kept.
Kalash Sthapana: A brass or copper pot filled with sacred water, spices, and mango leaves, topped with a coconut, is placed on a bed of raw grains. The divine energies of the life-giving deities are invited into this Kalash.
3. Core Deities Invocation & Chanting
During the Ayush Homam, specific energies associated with life extension are worshiped:
The Ayur Devata & Markandeya: Prayers are offered to the archetype of longevity (Sage Markandeya was blessed with immortality).
The Chiranjivis: Invocations are made to the seven immortal beings of Vedic tradition (like Lord Hanuman, Ashwatthama, and King Bali) to draw their life-sustaining blessings.
Ayush Suktam Recitation: The priests collectively chant the Ayush Suktam from the Vedas, which contains powerful phonetic frequencies specifically designed to rejuvenate physical health and vital energies (Prana).
4. The Yajna / Fire Ritual (Havan)
Agni Pratishta: A sacred fire is kindled inside the Havan Kund using clean mango wood, camphor, and pure cow ghee.
Mantra Offerings (Ahuti): The priests begin making physical offerings into the fire. The primary substance used in Ayush Homam is Charu (specially cooked boiled rice mixed with ghee and milk) along with medicinal herbs.
For every offering made, the core Ayush Mantra is chanted:
“Om Haam Ayur Devataye Namah Svaha”
Navagraha Havan: Offerings are also made to the nine planets to neutralize any negative transitions (Dasha) in the individual's birth chart that might be affecting their health or longevity.
5. Conclusion (Purnaahuti & Blessings)
Purnaahuti: The host stands up and offers a silk cloth bundled with coconuts, dry fruits, and the remaining sacred herbs into the fire as a grand final gesture of complete surrender and gratitude.
Maha Mangala Aarti: A ghee or camphor lamp is waved in front of the holy fire and the Kalash while singing devotional hymns.
Kalash Abhishekam: The highly energized water inside the Kalash is gently sprinkled over the head of the individual celebrating their birthday or recovering from illness. This water acts as a protective shield (Kavach).
Prokshanam & Prasad: The sacred ash (Bhasma) from the fire is applied to the forehead for health protection, and the sanctified food items are distributed.
